Steve was starting a community-powered current affairs and culture website. The idea was to provide a place for an outspoken voice to balance and address the skewed stereotypes of the black male, and stand as a voice of reason among a generation of educated black men.

Since the site is news- and update-driven, I felt it should reflect this through the familiar use of narrow columns on the home page and elements such as typography and color that suggest thoughfulness.

Byron came to me looking for a design for his personal blog. He really likes gaming — board, card, video — so I created a “legend” theme. The visual language of the site includes rounded corners, reminiscent of card games; dark colors reminiscent of middle earth; icons for categories, like icons that represent characters’ abilities or places; and a sidebar that acts as a guide through the site.

Gigi Connolly writes about the desert garden, Arizona, creativity, spirituality, and a little storytelling on her blog. She is a recent graduate of the Desert Botanical Garden’s Desert Landscaping School and wishes to pass on her knowledge to desert gardeners.

Digging AZ is a WordPress site based on Vista by AZ Money Web Design, which I customized to include a "magazine" style homepage and category-based navigation bar.
